> about
I'm a backend engineer based in Kumasi, Ghana. I build APIs and server-side systems with Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL — and I've been exploring Python for fintech tooling.
I care about clean architecture, writing code that other people can actually read, and solving real problems — not just building demos. My recent work includes an AI-powered document analysis API, a personal finance app, and an open-source MoMo SMS parser for Ghana's mobile money ecosystem.
When I'm not coding, I'm probably reading about system design patterns or figuring out how to make something I built yesterday a little better.
> projects
An open-source Python parser that converts unstructured Mobile Money SMS messages from Ghana's major telcos (MTN, Telecel, AirtelTigo) into structured JSON. Features a three-stage pipeline with regex template matching, confidence scoring, and a REST API layer for categorization and financial profiling.

2026 — Present
Developing production-grade applications to demonstrate backend engineering skills. Currently building this portfolio site and exploring new project ideas.
Feb 2026
Built a full REST API with JWT auth, file uploads, background job processing, Redis caching, and OpenAI GPT-4 integration. Set up CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
Jan 2026
Completed core training on Node.js and Express. Studied REST API design, authentication patterns, and database integration — laying the groundwork for Smart Doc API.
Dec 2025
Built an AI-powered personal finance app with smart expense categorization, natural language queries, and budget tracking using FastAPI, Next.js, and Google Gemini.
2025
Mastered core JavaScript — async/await, closures, prototypes, ES6+ features. Built small projects to solidify understanding.
